About The ‘Burbs
The eight-episode mystery comedy series is inspired by the 1989 horror-comedy film of the same name from director Joe Dante and writer Dana Olsen. The movie starred Tom Hanks, Bruce Dern, and Carrie Fisher.
Inspired by the 1989 cult classic, KeKe Palmer plays a young suburban wife to Jack Whitehall who gets enamored with the empty dilapidated house across the street and embarks on a sleuthing mission to find out the truth. Set in present-day suburbia, the new Peacock’s The ‘Burbs follows a young couple who have reluctantly relocated to the husband’s childhood home. Their world is upended when a new neighbor moves in across the street, bringing old secrets of the cul-de-sac to light, and new deadly threats shatter the illusion of their quiet little.
Check out a sneak peek of the cast line-up: Keke Palmer (Password, Nope) as Samira, Jack Whitehall (Fresh Meat, Bad Education) as Rob, Julia Duffy (Newhart, Designing Women) as Lynn, Paula Pell (Girls5eva, Saturday Night Live) as Dana, Mark Proksch (What We Do in the Shadows, The Office) as Tod, and Kapil Talwalkar (Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, Imposter) as Naveen.

The series is created, written, and executive produced by Celeste Hughey (Palm Royale, Dead to Me). Writer Rachel Shukert (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) is also an executive producer with Palmer. Dana Olsen, original writer of the 1989 film, is a co-executive producer with Amy Aniobi, Zora Bikangaga, and Neil Reynolds.
