Nominations for the 98^th Oscars will be announced in 24 categories on Thursday, January 22^nd. Thirty-five films are eligible, and there is no shortlist in this category. Five of those will be nominated. Read below for an assessment of the contenders and the predicted nominees.

There are a few noteworthy precursors to consider. For its Best Feature category, the Annie Awards selected The Bad Guys 2, Elio, KPop Demon Hunters, Little Amélie or the Character of Rain, and Zootopia 2. For Best Feature – Independent, the eligible nominees were Arco, Lost in Starlight, A Magnificent Life, and Scarlet. The Critics Choice Awards added In Your Dreams to the mix, while the Golden Globes chose Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle.
