Somewhere between Melrose Place and Curb Your Enthusiasm is The Trouble With Billy. The series is a nostalgic love letter presented as Hollywood satire, wrapped up in an endearing indie comedy. And it comes stacked with a cast of familiar faces from the ‘90s.
If anyone knows about the highs and lows of Hollywood in the ‘90s, it’s Billy McNamara. Starring in cult classics such as Dream a Little Dream, Stealing Home, and Copycat, the actor took inspiration from his real-life experiences and assembled some of his famous friends to create a series like nothing you’ve seen before.
For audiences who grew up watching faces like McNamara, Randall Batinkoff, and Costas Mandylor, The Trouble With Billy feels instantly recognizable in the best way.
In this first interview, Billy McNamara and America’s Next Top Model star Claudia Charriez talk about how they connected for the project, the wonderful nature of everyone involved, and how giving back to a few choice organizations is a large part of what makes this series special.
In this next interview, Awards Buzz’s Sari Cohen is joined by Randall Batinkoff, Costas Mandylor, and Ele Keats. They discuss their love for McNamara, their collaborative storytelling process, and in revisiting the spirit of the ‘90s, they remind us why that era’s originality and unpredictability still resonate today.
The series also stars the late Tom Sizemore, Sally Kirkland, and Corey Parker. Guest appearances include Billy Baldwin, Angus Macfadyen, Alison Eastwood, Robert Wagner, and Marilu Henner. The show is produced by ZTA Entertainment and is available to stream on Red Coral Universe May 22.
